HECKLER & KOCH MR27 DEPLOYMENT KIT
PRODUCT INFORMATION & SPECS
A limited-edition civilian USMC Deployment Kit is being listed here. The civilian equivalent of the fabled M27 is called the MR27.
In August 2011, the U.S. Marine Corps chose the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR), a particular version of the HK 416, as part of a novel effort to create a highly accurate, lightweight, and more dependable replacement for light machine guns that are currently in use.
The designation “M27” pays homage to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, the unit responsible for creating the first idea for the Infantry Automatic Rifle. Within the Marine Corps, the Infantry Automatic Rifle program started in 2001 as a “needs statement”. Recent operational experience in Afghanistan and Iraq strengthened the demand.
According to the initiative, a single Marine would be able to operate a magazine-fed 5.56 mm automatic rifle that would be lighter, more dependable, and more accurate than the current belt-fed 5.56 mm machine gun. These characteristics would improve the maneuverability and speed of the automatic rifleman, allowing it to supplement or even replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), which is supplied via belt. Compared to an M249, the IAR is more easily modified for house-to-house clearing operations and regular employment by the automatic rifleman, as demonstrated by recent testing and practical deployment.
We would love to sell you an M27, but we are unable to do so. But still! We can provide this fantastic MR27 Deployment Kit to you!
